Our Story

Farming the Way Nature Intended

We're a family farm committed to raising healthy animals, healing the land, and providing our community with the most nutrient-dense, flavorful meat possible.

Farming Practices

Thank you so much for your interest in how we raise our animals — I'm always happy to share more about our practices.

Yes, we do follow regenerative farming methods. In the winter, we use deep bedding and/or still move the animals as needed to keep things clean and comfortable for them. Once the grass starts coming in strong, we get everyone out on pasture. Our cattle and chickens are moved daily, and pigs are rotated at least every 14 days to give the land a chance to rest and regrow.

Our animals are not vaccinated. Instead, we prioritize overall herd health by raising them in low-stress, clean environments with plenty of fresh air, sunshine, and room to move. These conditions help support strong immune systems naturally, without the need for routine shots.

The grain we use isn't certified organic, but we source it from a local farm that keeps spraying to a minimum — only applying it early in the plant's growth, never on the seed heads like many conventional farms do. Our cows are 100% grass-fed and eat hay from our unsprayed fields. Pigs receive a limited amount of grain and are a breed known for being excellent grazers. Chickens are the most grain-dependent, but we're currently trying a new breed that we hope will thrive on less grain without compromising on quality or flavor.

We've looked into certified organic feed, but unfortunately, there's none available locally. Shipping it in would make the cost of one chicken close to $70 — not practical for most families. While we're not using certified organic feed right now, it's something we hope to pursue when the opportunity is right.

As a family who only eats meat from our own farm, we care deeply about what goes into our bodies. We've made our decisions thoughtfully — prioritizing low-stress, clean-living conditions for the animals and nutrient-dense, trustworthy food for our family and community. In our view, the occasional trace chemical in local grain is a lesser concern than the routine antibiotics, fecal dust, and poor quality of life common in even certified organic store-bought meat.

I hope this gives you a clearer picture of what we're doing here and why. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions — it means a lot to us that you care about how your food is raised and trust us enough to ask about it.

Regenerative Practices

We use holistic management techniques that improve the land with every season

Rotational Grazing

Animals are moved frequently to fresh pasture, allowing grass to recover and preventing overgrazing. This mimics natural herd movements and builds soil health.

Diverse Pastures

Our pastures contain dozens of plant species, creating a balanced ecosystem that supports wildlife, sequesters carbon, and produces nutrient-dense forage.

Water Management

Strategic grazing improves water infiltration and reduces runoff, helping to restore natural water cycles and prevent erosion.

Soil Building

Animal impact and plant diversity work together to increase organic matter, improve soil structure, and create habitat for beneficial microorganisms.

No Chemicals

We never use synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Healthy soil and diverse ecosystems naturally resist pests and disease.

Animal Welfare

Our animals live low-stress lives with access to their natural diet, fresh air, and sunshine. Happy animals produce better meat.

Animal Welfare First

We believe that how we treat our animals matters—not just ethically, but in the quality of the meat they produce. Stressed animals produce inferior meat. Happy, healthy animals produce exceptional meat.

Our chickens spend their days scratching for bugs, dust bathing, and enjoying fresh grass. Our pigs root through the woods, wallow in mud, and socialize with their herd. Our cattle graze peacefully on diverse pastures, living as close to their natural state as possible.

We handle our animals calmly and respectfully. We believe in honoring the life of every animal that feeds our community.
